Luscious Garage: Your Auto's Eco Alternative

The Breakdown
Earlier this year, my wife and I were driving our first generation Prius from Los Angeles to San Francisco—roughly a 400 mile trip we had done many times. It was Easter weekend, late Friday night, and we were about 90 miles outside of San Francisco when the car began to shudder violently and the dashboard lit up like a panicked Christmas tree. As we drifted onto the shoulder of the highway we quickly realized that our little car had serious problems. We phoned AAA for a tow and began searching our phones for a garage in the city. We found two Toyota dealerships and a listing for an interesting looking place called Luscious Garage which specialized in hybrid and electric vehicles. We left messages for all three and about 10 minutes later we received a call from a woman named Carolyn from Luscious Garage, who gave us directions to her place and instructions on where to leave the car and keys. She said she would take a look at our car Saturday morning.

Mission: Treasure Island

We've been so busy in the Alternative offices pushing out our spectacular Holiday collection that none of us had time to get to San Francisco last weekend for the Treasure Island music festival.  Alternative was proud to sponsor Treasure Island in its fourth year of celebrating amazing music with performances by She & Him, Miike Snow, !!!, LCD Soundsystem, Broken Social Scene, Ra Ra Riot, Surfer Blood, Belle & Sebastian...  and even as I type this out, I'm weeping on the inside thinking of all the great bands that I, errrr, I mean that we missed. Total bummer. In our stead, we sent our San Fran pals Leuwam and Laurel to experience the magic of Treasure Island and document the event with photos that we could share with all of you.
