Kinds of Love? I Kind of Love You.

Wanna know what's happening right now? Well, right now thousands and thousands of swellegant women and men in the fashion industry are descending upon Bryant Park in New York for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Right about now they're climbing into a cab (to get that morning Starbucks fix) and right about now, this video is popping up on the screen in the backseat of the taxi:



C'est magnifique, n'est-ce pas? This short video is part of our spring campaign that we originally launched in a special photo collage featured in Flaunt magazine. Here's a bit more about the inspiration behind the video:

Inspired in part by the famed romance between cultural icons Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg and the overall vibrant allure of 1960s French pop culture, Alternative’s “I Kind of Love You” campaign video evokes a casual luxury and effortless cool that is synonymous with the premier brand’s fashion-forward, vintage-soft clothing and accessories. From music, art and cinema to the unforgettable icons themselves, the 60s French pop scene was abundantly rich in style and creativity; it was a cultural moment in time that was all about spontaneity, authenticity and comfort—both inside and out. Featuring the latest Alternative fashions for women and men, the film was shot in L.A.’s scenic Laurel Canyon neighborhood.

P.S. A special shout-out to Blind Man's Colour - the delightful tune from the video is entitled "Never Hope for Treasure" off their Wooden Blankets EP.

Le Coeur du Spring
Incorporating bright pops of color in violet and cobalt, retro-style prints and mixed media pieces, the spring 2010 collection was inspired by the romance and vibrant allure of 1960s French pop culture. From music, art and cinema to the unforgettable cultural icons themselves—Brigitte Bardot, Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin—the 60s French pop scene was abundantly rich in style and creativity. Shot in L.A.’s Laurel Canyon in a mid-century architectural home with a Danish modern interior design influence, the spring 2010 campaign captures the casual luxury and effortless, unequivocal coolness of a bygone era.

Alternative and Flaunt Magazine Present "I Kind of Love You"

If you haven't seen the latest copy of Flaunt on the newsstand yet, keep an eye open! In this issue (#106, "The Eden Issue"), Flaunt has teamed up with Alternative's creative team to present a whimsical photo story called Kinds of Love I Kind of Love You.  I think I've heard through the grapevine that this is the first of a few art projects with Flaunt magazine, so stay tuned for more!

UPDATE 02/09/2010: Check out the video for I Kind Of Love You, which made its debut at New York's Fashion Week, February 2010! The song featured in the video is "Never Hope For Treasure" by Blind Man's Colour, from their EP Wooden Blankets.
