Our new music this week is SO GOOD. It's always good, we've always got great bands, but I'm really stressing the "good" this go-round because it's from a dude you probably don't know and I need to make a strong impression. Okay, maybe you know him a little bit - his name is Robert McDowell and he's a guitarist in the band Manchester Orchestra. Sounding a little more familiar? Except this isn't Manchester Orchestra - it's a little side project that Mr. McD has been working on for the past two years under the name Gobotron.
At this point, you should be checking out the song "Never Turn Around" on our music player.
And now, more details: Robert started putting together this collection of music back in 2008, working on it whenever he was off-duty playing with Manchester Orchestra. He'd come up with something small like a riff or a chorus, then add on various parts until he had a clear idea of the song. After he recorded all the songs completely, he went back and re-recorded everything for the album. Sounds tedious, right? "It became a science project rather than a band," says Robert.
And the result of this process is On Your Marks, Get Set... Gobotron's first official album that is scientifically designed for some serious indie pop goodness. It's so good that I'm DYING to put it in your hands.
So the GIVEAWAYS - we're gonna give two lucky winners a digital download of this album (in mp3 format) PLUS one of our unisex v-neck burnout tees.
How do you enter to win? Just leave a comment on this post by Sunday, February 14, 2010 - we'll announce our two winners on Monday, February 15. Good luck!
