Summer Style - Milo, Party of 2

We got a boatload of summertime photos from a photographer/videographer/band guy by the name of Brian Milo.  Two days later, we got a new crop of excellent photos from a lovely lady named Judi Nelson.  Judi's photos were totally rad so I asked her who shot them, because they were clearly not taken on some Kodak disposable camera (see below for the proof).  Her response?  "My husband is a photographer - his name is Brian Milo."  AAHHHH the pieces have come together.

So we're dedicating this post from our "Show Us Your Summer" campaign to the Milos - Brian and Judi.

Summer Style - The Kids Are Alright

Some of you Alternative moms and dads and aunties and uncles out there suckerpunched us by sending in photos of your little kiddies wearing Alternative tees.  Well, we're all softies here, and we've totally fallen into your trap.  Who can resist these adorable kids??

Above, little Maxwell plays on the beach in Alternative's baby/toddler Destroyed Tee.

Below, 3 month old Lola Papenhausen models our baby Whipper Snapper one piece in pink.  I mean, does this girl not have a Hollywood starlet name or what??

Cyra also styles our Whipper Snapper one-piece for babies, but her mom added on a piece of chalkboard fabric so that Cyra is always sharing her thoughts and feelings with the world.

And yes, I'm totally sneaking in a photo of my nephew Quinn in his baby/toddler Burnout Tee in white - he's keepin' it real chill on a recent visit to the zoo.

Summer Style - European Vacation

A handful of people sent us snapshots from their summer travels in Europe for our Show Us Your Summer contest.  This, of course, instantly made us all at Alternative super jealous.  However, we're definitely not ones to hate, and if anything, we got some good fodder for blissful daydreams of Mediterranean getaways.

Electric Summertime Jam, Courtesy of Röyksopp

Up on our music player this week, we've got a pretty sweet electro track entitled "The Girl & The Robot" from the Norwegian duo Röyksopp.  The song, which features vocals by pop star Robyn (she's big in Europe - most of us Americans haven't seen her since the last millenium), is a sad story about a girl who's in love with a workaholic.  But don't get too broken-hearted, because this track is way danceable.

And I'm throwing in a fan-made video for the same song because I personally think it's rad and we could all use more Short Circuit references in our day-to-day life. Number 5 is alive, y'all.

"The Girl & The Robot" is taken from the Röyksopp album Junior, out in stores and iTunes now.  Junior also features vocal contributions Karin Dreijer Andersson (of The Knife and Fever Ray) and Lykke Li.  You can also pick up the single release for "The Girl & The Robot" (also available in stores and iTunes) which features a dogpile of remixes by the likes of Ocelot, Joakim, Kris Menace and more.

Summer Style - Garcia Girls

 

When I got these photos from college students / sisters Alexa and Georgina Garcia, I couldn't help but chuckle.  Their pictures totally radiate imagination and summer whimsy - it's this kind of fun that summer is really all about, n'est-ce pas?  They didn't even need the expensive trappings of some luxury resort or cool beach destination and they are, without a doubt, enjoying their summer 100%.  Two thumbs up!

Summer Style - Greetings from Bali

London-based Martinique (left) poses with sunset (right) while vacationing out in Bali this summer.  Suddenly, my little 3-day weekend schlep to Dauphin Island off the coast of Boredom Alabama feels totally lacking in maximum vacation awesomeness.  My travel agent said it was like paradise down there - she should choke on her commission.
