We just got finished watching the trailer for the upcoming film The Stepfather starring Penn Badgley (from Gossip Girl) and we were really excited to see him wearing an Alternative tee in nearly every shot!
The original Stepfather was released in 1987 and starred Terry O'Quinn (who plays John Locke on Lost) as the new deranged daddy. The remake, which is modified slightly from the original, features Mr. Badgley as the eldest sibling of the family that the psycho stepfather is targeting - the original featured a daughter who was an only child. The 2009 remake, due out in October, also starts Nip/Tuck's Dylan Walsh and Sela Ward.
Alternative Founder/Designer Greg Alterman recently had a chance to catch up with Mike Mizrahi, the driving force behind OpportUnity Workshop. The OpportUnity Workshop allows artists and other individuals to get their unique message out to the world by using Alternative Apparel garments as a canvas for their designs. All of the screen-printing process occurs on location at the apparel store (in Los Angeles). And as a bonus for all you gone-greeners out there, the store's furniture and fixtures were all made using recycled and salvaged parts.
To learn more about OpportUnity and their initiatives, check out their website: www.reach4opportunity.com.
If you're in the Los Angeles area, you can visit their store at 152 North Larchmont Blvd, Los Angeles 90004 or give them a (toll free!) ring at 888-305-3844.
Remember when summer felt like an eternity? When summer was that 3 month wonderland that meant playing outside, sleepovers, pool parties and the bottomless supply of ice cream? When "summer" was synonymous with "freedom"? Man, those were the days. And while we're fortunate enough to enjoy a week's vacation here and there, it's always back to work in the end. Sigh.
Having said that, I would now like to point out that it's Friday afternoon. We're busting out of the office and diving head first into the weekend! See you guys and gals next week.

For some of us, it's been a normal week. Maybe a little hot, but you know, that's summer for you..
But for fanboys and sci-fi geeks and vampire-loving goths everywhere, this week is 2009's Comic-Con!
Entertainment Weekly held a "Wonder Women" panel at this year's event, which was headed up by a handful of actresses who have portrayed heroines in some of science fiction's most popular films and TV shows. Seated at the panel were Signourey Weaver (the Alien series), Zoe Saldana (the new Star Trek remake and Pirates of the Caribbean), Eliza Dushku (Joss Whedon's Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and Dollhouse) and Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost and the upcoming remake of V).
Above, Elizabeth Mitchell discusses if she'll be returning to Lost for any appearances on its final season, and drops a few details about V, which airs this fall on ABC.
Annette happened across our Show Us Your Summer campaign on the blog, so she sent in a photo of her husband Sasha with their brand new baby girl Lusya. We were all too happy to show them off on the blog and offer them a big CONGRATS from all of the old Alternative Apparel crew circa '07. Sasha wears our men's Burnout Tee in washed navy.
