Remember like 2 months ago when we had our Think Earth Launch Party? Well, at long last, the video has finally arrived! And the best part? It's full of some of our favorite Think Earth I celebrities (including Reid Scott, Michelle Lombardo, Ali Hillis, and artist Brian Wills) impersonating an animal they'd like to be if they weren't human. Definitely didn't see that minotaur coming....
Like mother, like daughter (and vice versa): "Following in my daughter's footsteps, I have a rain barrel from which to water plants; I am conserving water in our house as well. My husband recycles (refurbishes) old vehicles. Of course, when my granddogs, Addie & Luke, come, water is no object once they're in the pool."
The July 2009 issue of InStyle (on newstands now!) features Ryan Reynolds as this month's "Man of Style." Here's an excerpt:
Most of my clothes are kind of vintage. But I like nice suits and will spend a lot on them. I love Dolce & Gabbana and Alexander McQueen. I'm tall, so they fit me really well - usually off the rack.
For this Pima Cotton shoot, "In the Land of Make Believe" I was inspired by the rich color pallet of the collection. I wanted to mix and match the lush, jewel tone hues to evoke a feeling of effortless demure and whimsy. This got me thinking about paradise and vacationing...and voila! I realized the shoot should be about making believe you're in paradise, on vacation! You can do it anywhere! At my desk, basking in the rays my LCD screen, I closed my eyes - rich color and warm light surrounded me, and I appeared on a beach with flocks of gigantic parrots circling above, the palm trees dancing in the distance. I relaxed into my armoire and fanned myself lazily, as the majesty jewel-colored peacock herself, feeding on pomegranate jelly beans until the sun sank into the horizon. And so our Alternative crew drove out to the Salton Sea, a once lush and buzzing paradise, now long abandoned and forgotten, to let our creativity flourish and color flow in the Land Of Make Believe!
We are super excited to bring to you Atlanta's one and only It's Elephants and a song from their sophomore release, Get's Along. They are celebrating the CD/Vinyl release at The Earl in East Atlanta Village alongside with Atlanta's loud as hell post punk/metal band Whores and The Long Shadows on June 26, 2009. Check all respective links to get more info on the bands and make it out to the show...it will be one to remember.
It's Elephant's comes from the ashes of The Letters Organize (who are having a reunion/last show August 28 @ The Drunken Unicorn), going in a direction with a more soul, psychedelic indie rock that you can't tap unless you are truly from the South. But don't just take my word on how rad this band is, our good friends over at Paste Magazine did an interview with It's Elephant's that you can read here.
So go ahead, open our music player and listen to "Better in '77" by It's Elephants and if you are in the Atlanta area, come out to the show at The Earl!
P.S. You can also download their first full length album, Little Trouble in Chinatown for free @ www.threefortysevenaugusta.com.
