Orlando Bloom Celebrates Burberry... in an Alternative T-Shirt

NYC's Mayor Bloomberg declared that Thursday, May 28 was Burberry Day!  Errr... in New York City, anyway - no one in Atlanta was gifting me any new plaid scarves.  Damn.  So, they had a giant party at the New York Palace Hotel with tons of celebs like Claire Danes, Gossip Girl's Blake Lively, Rose McGowan and Molly Sims.

Also in attendance was Orlando Bloom (pictured above left, with Christopher Bailey, Creative Director at Burberry) who was wearing a nice coat, a nice vest, and OH YEH our Organic Cotton Crew in earth moss.  Pretty sharp looking for a t-shirt, n'est-ce pas?

Rugby Style and Road Trip Chic in MetroPop Magazine

We're featured in this month's MetroPop magazine - the devilishly attractive woman riding shotgun is wearing none other than our Scrum Rugby Stripe Crew in burgundy.  We thought that it was worth a mention because (A) that shirt is real cute, y'all, and (B) it's part of our Summer Kick-Off Sale ... take 25% off this cute tee if you purchase it before the weekend is up.

Nylon Thinks Earth!

Guess who's in this month's Nylon?  We are!  And we're featuring some of our favorite participants of our Think Earth campaign: Reid Scott, Ali Hillis, and Brian Wills, all unique individuals who are doing their part to make a difference.  Ali, for example, rescues boxers (the 4-legged, adorable lick-your-face kind), Reid supports charity Rock n' Renew, and Brian collects small items to incorporate into his art while advocating nonprofit Oceana.  To read their full stories, check out our Think Earth site!

Forbes Goes Fashionista

 

Today on Forbes.com: stock market analysis, killer business strategies, tech advancements, and Reinventing the T-Shirt, a piece highlighting designers who are getting innovative with their tees.  One of the first (and least expensive) items they feature is our men's Burnout Tee, which has helped to bring "the burnout tee back from its 1980s grave."  Yess!!  Other items include a 100% silk tee by Tim Hamilton and a cute jersey cardi from J. Crew (that looks a lot like our Catalina Cardigan, btw).  Thanks, Forbes!  We feel like a million bucks!

"The inspiration to tour to Alaska came from jokes about ridiculous touring plans. A previous band I was in toured the entire US and Mexico in 18 days (which was a horrible idea) and our next worst tour idea was to tour to Alaska and back in 10 days (we never did it). I pitched a more feasible Alaskan tour to The Emotron and he loved the idea. The veg oil conversion was a practical and financial necessity in order for us to be able to cover that much ground on our meager budget. We couldn't afford to make the trip any other way, so we dug deep into the world of recycled veg oil fuel!"

Let's Get Physical - Alternative's Heather Burnout Featured on Who What Wear

The crew over at Who What Wear put together a nice little mix of some sporty pieces that are sweet finds at low prices.  Styles under $100 in this economy? We'll take two!

According to designers like Alexander Wang, the sporty look is totally in for spring and summer.  Given some of their selections, uhm, I have to say that this is a pretty classy version of what I think "sporty" looks like.  When you say "sporty" I'm still thinking "Spice Girls".  But the trends this season have gone from aerobic chic to...  high heels?  I'm kind of afraid of a sporty look that includes shoes like the Office sandal pictured above - unless it's like those Easy Spirit pumps that you could play basketball in?  Also, the model from DKNY's fashion show (also pictured above) is biting that Bananarama style a là "Cruel Summer".  That's probably more of a "Working Stiff" look...  but I guess the labors of a blue collar handyperson are sporty in their own right.

In the mix, however, they featured our very own Topanga Heather Burnout Crew in dirty grey.  OOOHHH now, I get it.  So yeh, it's just a t-shirt, but our heather burnout adds a level of class and sophistication that your regular ol' gym tee can't handle.

So in conclusion, "sporty" doesn't mean "sweaty disheveled bum" - you can still play hard and look good.  I suppose even the brassiest Spice Girl can learn how to keep a little class in her athletic endeavors.
