Indiana's Mock Orange makes it to our online music player this week with "Song in D" off their latest album Captain Love. Personally this is exciting for me, Mock Orange has been one of my favorite bands for years. And you know what else, they were already huge fans of Alternative...so it kind of just worked out for the both of us.

Today is Earth Day, the one day out of the year where, if you don't already, you freaking better eat organic, carpool or telecommute if you can, and NOT throw away that plastic bottle. Of course, we can't be perfect all the time, which is why at Alternative we prefer to celebrate what people ARE doing to make a difference (today and every day), rather than what they aren't. In other words, we like to give props...and we love when people give 'em back.
Some such love has been given by Blackburn and Sweetzer, who recently covered our Think Earth event, writing about being longtime fans. There was also the Chicago Gifts Examiner, who plugged Alternative Earth as a great gift for Earth Day. Last but not least was the fierce write-up in Us Weekly, which we covered a few days ago, also highlighting our organic and eco-friendly apparel as a great gift.
I mean, we love this stuff! And we totally couldn't agree more...what better way to say Happy Earth Day than with our Organic Scoop Neck Tee or Eco-Heather Crew? Of course, if you're strapped for cash, you can always celebrate simply: carpooling, recycling, and giving yourself props for what you do to make a difference. Heck, get involved with Think Earth and tell the world your story! It's about as free as free can be.

Our favorite thing about Kelly Cutrone: she says no to bullsh*t! In fact, her no-nonsense attitude is part of the reason we went with People's Revolution as our PR Firm. But did we ever expect to see her on MTV telling Stephanie Pratt how to better fold a tee for a client (3:08)? No, and we're impressed! The truth about the clothing biz, as my lifetime-in-the-industry dad likes to say, is that "it's all hustle." In other words, there's really (like, really) no room for slacking in fashion...only (as some may argue) slacks.
So major kudos for Kelly for keeping it real, and to Lauren for backing her up. KEEP UP THE HUSTLE, LADIES, KEEP IT UP!

You like us, you really like us! You know that feeling...and now we do too! Our Think Earth launch event this past Wednesday was a total success, with appearances from Vol. I participants Jason Kennedy, Michelle Lombardo, Shane West, Reid Scott, Brian Wills, Davida Heller of EcoSpire, and many (many, many, many) others. It was a spectacular beginning to what we hope to be an even more eco-fabulous future!

US Weekly's "US Style" column did a whole spread this week on the best-of-the-best green essentials - from clothes to acessories to make-up and skin care products. Author's note: And thumbs up to Eva Mendes for her biodegradable bag. I watched The Spirit on DVD the other night and was not to impressed at all but Eva Mendes (who plays Sand Saref) looked gorgeous. Being beautiful AND going green - a delightful combination indeed.
